I can't get too excited about this. I feel the Japanese are the only ones with any business making Godzilla movies because of who he is as a character.

I wouldn't worry to much about it. I've know about it for quite some time and they really want to handle the project with care.
They even have Banno on board as a producer and no this doesn't have any connection to Godzilla 3D to The Max. |

But at the end of the day, it's still a Hollywood studio production. And "handle with care" is usually nothing more than lip service to Hollywood.
Banno's just an executive producer... that means he's just kind of a name on the picture. Now if he were the DIRECTOR, I might be a bit more enthused.
