I just got home from Raleigh, North Carolina to find that Armand Vaquer is no longer with G-Fan or G-Fest. I gather from his blog that there was a dispute over at the G-Fest committee's Yahoo Group and J. D. Lees "fired" him on Christmas morning.
There's also a related blog loaded with reaction comments and it appears that Lees is catching hell from fans and it seems Brett Homenick is behind all this (Why am I not surprised?).
Peter Brothers commented that this is an "enormous" loss to fandom given Armand's contributions over the years.
I am just stunned beyond belief. Here's the link:

Doesn't surprise me. Brett's a bit of a jerk. And for my money, MORE people should pop him one.
So what's the deal, they score Akira Takarada for their convention and think they don't need Armand anymore? Pfft.
What happened to loyalty in this society? This sort of thing is becoming more and more prevalent across the spectrum and I have suffered from it many times. _________________

And how, he never really left a good impression for that short time he was on certain forums in 2003/2004.
Once again, sad news, especially for such a small fandom such as ours. To think, it was once one of the nicest I was a part of. Now the egos with some people are basically bigger than the fanbase. _________________ Ah, screw it! Let's just build a gigantic knife on wheels! |

^ Yeah. My opinion of fandom has really degenerated these past few years. It seems like really cool/nice fans (such as David McRobbie) are exceptions to the norm. This is a major reason why I'm losing interest in the genre.
Considering how small this fandom is, its sad that we have this kind of crap and infighting. _________________ "The gigantic octopus is a slimy, loathsome creature and one of Tsuburaya's best creations."
